How Our Third-Party Testing Keeps You and Your Baby Safe

Written by: Dr. Stephanie Culler

At Persephone, trust starts with transparency. Every batch of our products is tested by an independent third-party lab before it is sold to the public. These tests confirm that our probiotics and prebiotics are as pure, safe, and effective as we claim — so you can feel confident about what you’re giving your family.

Although we take a rigorous approach to production, supplements are not regulated like medications. Rather than have to take our word for the safety and quality of the product, we partner with accredited external labs that display the results directly on our website to ensure every product meets strict standards for safety and consistency. Independent testing means our results are unbiased and verifiable. It's science, not marketing. Furthermore, as part of our commitment to quality, we hold ourselves to some of the highest safety standards in the industry, including Clean Label Project’s First 1,000 Days™ certification

Our testing is done by Light Labs, a trusted, independent laboratory that brands like Little Spoon, Serenity Kids, Chomps, and Banza partner with.

What We Test For

Each batch is screened for:

  • Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and arsenic

  • Microbial contaminants to ensure purity and safety

  • Allergens like gluten, soy, and peanuts

  • Potency and strain identity, confirming that our beneficial bacteria are present and active (this part is done in-house using the state-of-the-art sequencing pipeline we used for clinical studies)

Only batches that pass all these tests are approved for release.

Our Commitment to Transparency

To make this process visible to every family, all third-party testing results are posted on our website and can be accessed at any time. This gives you direct insight into the safety and quality of each batch, reinforcing our belief that parents deserve clear, open information about what they bring into their homes.

Bottom Line

We test. A lot. As parents, we want to be confident in the brands we buy, so we built that desire into the core of who we are.
