What Parents Report After One Month of Supporting Their Baby’s Gut

Written by: Persephone Science Team

When you’re caring for a baby or toddler, progress isn’t measured in perfection — it’s measured in how the days and nights feel. More comfortable digestion. Calmer moods. Better sleep. Fewer moments where something just feels “off.”

Parents are often the first to notice when those shifts happen, especially when it comes to the gut.

To better understand what families experience after supporting their child’s gut microbiome, we surveyed forty-seven parents who used Persephone’s Synergistic Synbiotic consistently for at least one month. The survey included 21 infants and 26 toddlers, and while every child is different, clear patterns emerged in what parents noticed during those first weeks. We continue to survey families and collect additional data to deepen our understanding of these early experiences over time.

What parents noticed after one month — at a glance

After a month of consistent use, parents reported changes across several areas tied to digestion, comfort, and daily routines.

What these changes can look like in everyday life

More comfortable digestion and more predictable poops

After one month, nearly three-quarters of infants and toddlers were reported to have improvements in digestion and stool consistency. Parents often described bowel movements becoming easier, more regular, and less uncomfortable.

For many families, this is one of the earliest signs that the gut is functioning more smoothly. And when digestion feels better, parents often notice ripple effects beyond diaper changes — including comfort, mood, and feeding.

Improvements in crying, colic, and fussiness

Among infants, 63% of parents reported fewer episodes of excessive crying or colic. For families navigating ongoing tummy discomfort, even modest reductions in crying can feel life-changing.

More than half of parents noticed improvements in mood or fussiness. This reinforces what growing research continues to show: the gut and nervous system are closely connected, and when the gut feels more balanced, kids often feel more comfortable overall.

Better sleep and more settled routines

After one month, nearly half of infants and toddlers were reported to have improvements in sleep quality or duration. Similar numbers of parents noticed positive changes in appetite.

These shifts often go hand in hand. When digestion is more comfortable and the gut is less inflamed, children may settle more easily at night and feel more comfortable eating during the day.

Fewer diaper rashes

Many parents also reported improvements in diaper rash, particularly in infants. Gut health and skin health are closely linked through what’s often called the gut–skin axis. Balanced gut bacteria can help normalize stool pH, which may create a less irritating environment for sensitive skin and reduce the frequency or severity of diaper rash.

The takeaway: what one month of gut support can mean

This parent survey suggests that after one month of consistent use, Persephone’s Synergistic Synbiotic may support digestion, comfort, sleep, and overall well-being in both infants and toddlers.

Results will always vary from child to child. But these real-world experiences reflect something important: supporting the gut doesn’t just affect digestion, it can influence how babies feel throughout their entire day.

At Persephone, we believe supporting the infant gut is about more than short-term comfort, it’s about building a foundation for lifelong health. The early years are a critical window, when the gut microbiome helps shape immune development, digestion, and overall well-being for years to come.

Our approach is science-backed and designed for real family routines, because meaningful change happens through consistency, not perfection. By supporting babies’ guts early, we’re helping them feel better today — and helping set them up for healthier tomorrows — while giving families calmer days and more restful nights along the way.
